It’s that time of year, y’all. The time when we all sigh and say, “Wow, 2018 is really almost over,” and look ahead to the New Year. It’s also the time when nearly every blogger writes a big “year in review” post. This year, I’m switching it up and I’m excited to share some of my favorite things of 2018 with y’all today.
2017: What a Year
Y’all, I can’t believe that 2017 is almost over. This year flew by. I feel like I say that every year, but for real, where did 2017 go? 2016 (year in review here) seems like an eternity ago.
2017 was a heck of a year.
With all the ups and downs felt around the nation and around the world, and even in my own life, at times, it was easy to see only the negatives. But even through the negatives, 2017 was still a really amazing year, because it showed heart, perseverance and the results of hard work on both micro and macro levels.
The Best of 2016
Well, 2016 was quite the year to remember. It threw almost everything it had at me, pushed me to my limits, introduced me to some pretty wonderful people, and showed me how to pick myself up and keep moving forward. Insert Charles Dickens “it was the best of times, it was the worst of times” quote here.
But most importantly, 2016 taught me so much about myself and showed me that I am where I am for a reason, and that I couldn’t be happier with the life I have. I said it would take a lot to top 2015, and 2016 sure brought it.

Now 2016 is coming to a close and 2017 is just on the horizon. Let’s take a look back on the last year and celebrate everything wonderful that happened.
The Best of 2015
Well, 2015, you were a heck of a year. You started in the warm, sunny Dominican Republic and you’re ending in chilly North Carolina, at the lake, with two kitties, my family, a belly full of barbecue and a hot cup of tea.
Every year I say that the past year has been so wonderful, and has been packed with tons of amazing memories and awesome opportunities. It’s always true, though. While I was met with some not so fun times and definitely my fair share of challenges, the best of 2015 truly was the best of 2015. Each year I am reminded of how lucky I am to have the support of my wonderful friends and family, and to get to experience what I’ve seen and done over the year.
