Here’s the post I’ve been promising about my blog rebranding process and move to WordPress! I started thinking about the idea back in the spring. It started as a fleeting, “Maybe I should move to WordPress,” and quickly evolved into, “Yes, I’m moving to WordPress and I’ve got my domain nailed down.” At the time I was still in my last semester of grad school, and knew I wouldn’t have a ton of time to work on it until I’d graduated. And that was okay. I did what I could in small doses, until I had more time to devote to it.
The Official Big Announcement!
If you read my post about rebranding your blog earlier this week, then you probably have an idea about what’s coming. If not, well… I’ve got a big announcement on this Friday!
A new design & aesthetic // I’ll be testing my design skills here. New colors, fonts, symbols, embellishments, and new features on my blog’s layout… it’ll all be here. And it’ll look fabulous.
A new platform // That’s right… I’m moving to WordPress! As much as I rag on WordPress and how it frustrates me, who would’ve thought I’d actually make the move? But I am. The bad taste from working with WP last semester in grad school has (mostly) gone away. I know there will be a learning curve and it will take some getting used to, and I’ll admit I’m nervous about it. But I know it will be a great move and it’ll be one of the best things I can do for the future of my blog.
No worries, though – I promise to keep y’all updated and in the loop throughout the process. I’ll share some teasers and sneak peeks at my new design and layout, and fill y’all in on switching to WordPress. That will be the biggest challenge for me. But I’m ready to tackle it!
If you have any advice, insights, or any words of wisdom to offer, please do not hesitate to share them! I’m always looking for easier or new ways to do something, or a different solution, or any kind of advice. Blogging is an always-learning process, and I know I’ll learn a whole lot during my rebrand and launch
