Well, Happy 2020, y’all! 2019 came and went in a blur, and we’re already here at a new year, and a new decade. Talk about something that’s weird to type! As crazy and awesome as 2019 was, I have a feeling 2020 is going to kick the decade off with a bang. To start, I’m making a list of my 2020 goals and resolutions.
2018 Goals
Happy 2018, y’all! I’m so ready for the fresh start that comes with the New Year. As I said in my 2017 year in review post, 2017 was quite the year. But I have a feeling that 2018 will be twice as epic.
Like I said… I’m so ready.
I haven’t written a “goals” post in quite awhile. They always seem a bit cliche, especially this time of year. But in the spirit of the New Year, and in hopes that it’ll keep me accountable, I’m sharing my 2018 goals with y’all.
New Year’s Blog Resolutions
We can all make New Year’s resolutions for ourselves, but what about our blogs? To be a successful blogger, I have to give my blog as much attention as I do other things. So this year, instead of making my usual New Year’s resolutions–get in shape, drop a few pounds, eat better, relax, take care of myself, y’all know the usuals–I’m making blog resolutions.
{1} Increase page views by 100,000: Okay, so I have a long way to go on this one, but I still believe it’s possible! If I tackle my other resolutions headstrong and those are successful, then this will definitely be doable in the New Year. This might seem like a “beginner’s” goal, but everyone has to start somewhere if they want blog fame. I chose 100k just as a concrete number, but really, I’ll be happy if I get anywhere close to that.
{2} Grow my social media following: I would really love to expand my readership and audience, and social media is a great way to do this. I started my blog’s Facebook page a few months ago, and while it’s not my #1 traffic source, it certainly helps. Pinning my posts to Pinterest helps way more than I ever thought. Some of my posts that are over a year old still get pinned every day. I love exploring new social media options, so if you have any pointers, please share them in the comments!
{3} Blog consistently: Ideally I would like to post at least 3 times a week. Most of the time, this is easily doable, but sometimes school will get busy and I can only post once or twice. This year, I really want to make a conscious effort to post 3 times a week. Consistency keeps readers coming back (and sharing).
{4} Make time to plan and schedule quality content: I started doing this more recently, toward the end of my semester at school, and it helps with everything so much. My dear friend Kristina sent me this lovely journal for my birthday, and I think I will reserve this for my 2015 blog planning notes. I especially love the quote on the front!
{5} Interact & connect more with my readers & audience: This is closely related to #2. Interacting with readers and followers is a good way to keep them loyal and it makes them more willing to share your content and promote your blog. By commenting on other blog posts, I’ve gained new followers and readers, and have great conversations in my comments.
{6} Explore new content, both in my reading and writing. This past year, I really started reading and following more blogs, both similar to and way different from mine. I learn so much from reading other blogs, from blog and social media tips, recipes, DIYs, content and post ideas, and everything in between. I can’t wait to see what new material I discover in 2015.
All of these resolutions will play into one another, in theory. I have confidence that I can improve on all of these and keep growing my blog successfully.
What are your blog resolutions for 2015?
