It’s my birthday month! My actual birthday isn’t for another couple weeks, but why not start celebrating early? My 28th year has certainly been a crazy and different one, full of unexpected things, but a good one, nonetheless. It seems only fitting to kick off the final year of my twenties with a fun, celebratory cake: a Birthday Bundt Cake!
Madeleines are some of my favorite treats to bake. A plain madeleine recipe is basically a blank canvas for other flavors and ingredients to shine. This time of year, I can’t resist playing with warm spices, like those in chai. These Browned Butter Chai Madeleines are the latest baking experiment to come out of my kitchen—and y’all, I kind of love them.
Even though 2020 feels like it’s never actually going to end, one silver lining we have to look forward to is the holiday season! The holidays are going to look very different for a lot of people this year, myself included, but I’m as excited as I always am to spend an inordinate amount of time in the kitchen trying new recipes and sharing them with friends and family. Peach cobbler is an essential in the Southern cooking toolkit. It appears at nearly every dinner party or cookout over the summer, especially when peaches are in season. Since I don’t have any large parties, tailgates, or other gatherings at which to share a normal sized peach cobbler, I worked on something a little different: Personal Peach Cobbler!
Ah, Girl Scout cookie season, you are upon us again. Every year I try not to buy too many boxes, but I always end up with at least two: shortbreads and Thin Mints. Everyone loves Thin Mints, there’s no doubt about that. This recipe for Thin Mint Truffles puts a whole new spin on the popular treat.
With a new year comes all kinds of resolutions for eating better and smarter. Even with healthy changes, I still want a little sweet treat after dinner, especially after a long day at work. After months of experimenting, I’ve created the perfect, single-serving indulgence: edible cookie dough, that won’t totally kill your healthy new diet!
If I had a dollar for every batch of cookies, or other holiday treat, I’ve made (and eaten) so far this year, my piggy bank would be fat and happy. I love holiday baking, especially cookies. They’re so fun. Today’s recipe for Christmas Chip Cookies is no different—they’re soft, colorful, and festive.
Well, happy December, y’all! ‘Tis the season for all my favorite holiday baking. The recipe I’m sharing today for Orange Oatmeal Craisin Cookies is one of my favorite experiments of the last few years. It was one of those recipes that I just knew was going to work when I thought of it.
