Who doesn’t love a good biscuit? If you ask me, breakfast and/or brunch should always include a biscuit. Or sometimes, breakfast or brunch should just be a biscuit. Fortunately for biscuit enthusiasts like myself, Chattanooga has plenty of places to enjoy a tasty biscuit, almost any time of day.
I absolutely love grits. I don’t know how old I was the first time I had them, but I was young enough for their deliciousness to be engrained in my mind forever. My parents and both sets of grandparents made them almost every weekend, and often loaded them up with cheese. So as far as I’m concerned, cheese grits are the only way to go.
September is another month that I’m glad is (almost) over. Not that there was anything bad about it; September is just a weird transition month. It’s kinda sorta still summer but also kinda sorta fall. And of course, in Tennessee, it’s still in the mid-to-upper 80s and it probably won’t feel like fall until Halloween or after. I just want to wear my leggings and blanket scarves—is that too much to ask? Do I say this every year? Probably.
Confession: I wasn’t big on podcasts until I started my own. Or, at least until I started thinking about starting my own. I never disliked them, but I guess I just hadn’t found any that “grabbed” me. But once I started listening to a few—and was a guest on a friend’s show a time or two—the bug bit hard. Now my podcast collection grows by at least one new show a week.
I’m back, y’all! Last week was moving week and I’m now (mostly) settled in my new apartment. More on that in another post. How did I celebrate moving to a new apartment? With a new cocktail, of course! Meet The Last Taste of Summer cocktail: a fruity rum libation that’s perfect for the last days of my favorite season.
Y’all, I’m not gonna lie: August was a rough month. But rough months happen, and I am so glad the month is almost over. I’m in need of a fresh start, and fortunately I’m getting it in the form of moving to a new apartment next week! But in light of trying to find positives even among the most challenging times, for this edition of my Friday Five, I’m sharing five things I’ve learned this month and how I’m going to move forward like a champ.
