This was originally going to be my Friday Five post for March. But then I got sick and totally lost my voice, and got off-schedule. So it’s arriving a few days later, now that I’m (mostly) recovered and back to the blog.
I knew March would get busier than February and January had been, so I was ready for whatever it threw my way. Fortunately, it was full of fun things that have me really pumped for April.
Here are my favorite things from the month of March!
Cheese & Cookies. Who knew Girl Scout cookies paired so nicely with fancy cheeses? My local cheese shop hosted a Cheese and Girl Scout Cookie pairing a couple weeks ago, and of course I had to go check it out. Thin Mints and goat cheese, and Trefoils with Stilton bleu cheese? It sounds strange, but I promise they were all delicious.
If you’re ever visiting Chattanooga, do yourself a favor and check out Bleu Fox Cheese Shop on Main Street. They are cheese experts, and will find at least one cheese you will LOVE before you walk out the door. I had the owner on my podcast last year!
CFC is back. Soccer season is back in Chattanooga! The Boys in Blue—the Chattanooga Football Club, if you’re new to the blog—played their first match of 2019 against Comunicaciones FC, a professional club from Guatemala. We have a few more friendlies before the season officially begins in May. Get ready for lots of soccer stuff on the blog and my Instagram.
Pimento Cheese Sausage Balls. Whoa, this post was a hit! Last week, I shared a recipe for pimento cheese sausage balls, featuring Palmetto Cheese. It quickly became one of my most popular posts. With CFC season back in swing, I’ll be making these for lots of tailgates.
I went to my first U.S. Women’s National Team soccer match. I’ve seen the men’s national soccer team play a few times, and now I can say I’ve seen the women play! The U.S. Women’s National Team played in Nashville earlier this month, and my friend and I went up for the day. I gotta say, the women are a lot more fun to watch than the men’s team.
“Get Better” tea. I stumbled upon this easy “tea” recipe a few months back, and I’ve kept it in my back pocket for whenever I start to get sick. It’s just lemon, ginger, and honey, all steeped together for 10 minutes, and I swear it fixes whatever is ailing me at any given time.
Chocolate bunnies. Forget 50% off Valentine’s candy. Bring on the chocolate bunnies for Easter! My mom and I have loved these things since I was a child, and we consume many between the two of us each year. Do you eat the ears or butt first? I prefer the ears.
March has me all kinds of excited for everything that’s coming in April, namely warmer weather and soccer season. I might even try my hand at some gardening. Stay tuned for updates on that endeavor.
What were some of your favorite things from March? What are you excited about in April?
