Happy Last Friday of the Month! But not only is the last Friday of the month, it’s my birthday! Usually I write some kind of reflective post about lessons learned or goals or something, but this year, I’m sticking to my monthly Friday Five. I’ve probably already posted about what I’d write in this birthday post, anyway. So, onward with my Friday Five highlights for November!
Thanksgiving totally snuck up on me this year. Anyone else feel that? That only means that Christmas is going to really sneak up on me. So, time to get my life together and be more prepared.
Last year when I turned 26, I thought, well, I am now officially closer to 30 than I am 20. I wish I had something profound and inspiring to say about turning 27, but alas. I kind of miss the birthdays when “big” things happen, like when you turn 17 and you can get into R-rated movies without your parents, or when you turn 21. But I also kind of like getting older, living and experiencing more in life.
If you’re interested, here are my annual birthday blog posts from 26, 25, 24 and 23. Even as I go back and read those, it’s nice to see how my perspective changed from year to year. Progress?
Anyway, now on to the point of this blog post…
Here are my Friday Five highlights from the month of November!
Better hair care. One of my accounts at my job is a hair care brand. The brand isn’t necessarily meant for my hair type, but I sure have learned a lot about proper, healthy hair care in the last several months. My flat iron has gone unused for nearly three weeks, and I switched to “natural” products that don’t have sulfates, silicones, and/or parabens or anything like that. I can also count on one hand the number of times I’ve used my flat iron this month. My hair looks and feels amazing. I first tried the Aveeno sulfate-free shampoo, and then I switched to Not Your Mother’s Naturals, and I love those.
Fall drinks. Did you catch my post last week? I shared four delicious fall drinks (boozy and non-boozy) that are perfect for celebrating the holidays with friends and family. Stay tuned… I’ve got at least three more coming at y’all in another week or so.
Fall colors. Y’all, I couldn’t get over how beautiful the leaves and colors were in Chattanooga. A few weekends ago, a few coworkers and I went hiking on Lookout Mountain, and y’all, the leaves were stunning. Photos don’t do it justice.
Sip See Chatt. Calling all Chattanooga influencers! We now have a network/community for us, thanks to a lovely person named SaraJane (who y’all can meet on episode 27 of my podcast). We had the first official event earlier this month, and y’all, it was so fun. I got to hang out with some really awesome people for the evening, and enjoy some delicious food and drinks. I’m so glad there’s an official community for influencers and I can’t wait to see what’s next.
Meal prepping. Okay, so this isn’t a highlight, per se. It’s more of a reminder and goal to get back at it next month. I used to be pretty good about meal prepping on the weekends, or at least cooking enough during the week that I had leftovers. With the holiday season in full swing, eating healthful, well-balanced meals will be essential to staying on track with my diet… or as on track as possible. What are some of your favorite meal-prep tips and meals?
And a bonus…
The Choo Choo has their Christmas tree up! That means it’s officially Christmas season, right? I absolutely love this marvel of a tree and I take at least a hundred photos of it each year. Can you blame me?!
Eleven down, one to go… and then it’s hello 2019. I’ll save the real, “oh wow, 2018 seriously flew by” monologue for December’s Friday Five. Don’t forget to check out my Instagram challenge that starts tomorrow, too!
What were some highlights from your November?
