Happy First Blog Post of 2016, y’all! What better way to start off than with a killer collection of songs to get you pumped to tackle all of your goals for the year?!
Music always puts me in a good mood, and good music takes that good mood up several notches. I’ve always been a junkie for a good playlist; seriously I have about 10 saved on my iPod at any given time. I looked for any reason to make a mix CD for a friend just so I could put together an awesome playlist.
I really like music, y’all. And that’s why I wanted to share some of my favorites today, to help y’all start 2016 on a strong note! Haha…note…music…get it? I’m hilarious.
Here’s my playlist of the best songs to start your New Year off bright and bold!
Confident, Demi Lovato – What’s wrong with being confident? Absolutely nothing. No shame in how much I love this song.
Here I Am Alive, Yellowcard – I’ve written about how much I love this song before. “When they give up, ’cause they will give up, say ‘here I am alive'”… show ’em what you’ve got! This song is wise beyond its years.
This Side, Nickel Creek – Super underrated early-2000s country/bluegrass song, if you ask me. Don’t be scared of what’s on the other side. There you’ll be able to face the dawn and imagine in new colors and songs. Be curious. Climb up the slide, slide down the stairs. Seriously, go listen to this song right now.
I Have Confidence, from The Sound of Music – Having confidence in yourself is the first step to tackling your goals and making them happen. This is always one of the first songs I listen to when I need a boost.
Climb Every Mountain, also from The Sound of Music – Fun fact, this used to be my least favorite song from this movie. But the older I get, the more I appreciate its message and words of encouragement.
Also, I just really love The Sound of Music. Definitely my favorite movie of all time.
These 9 songs are sure to make your #NewYear bright & bold! Click To TweetReady and Willing, New Found Glory – Take on your to-do lists and goals with your game face in full force.
Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You), Kelly Clarkson – Sure, the song is about breaking free from a relationship, but the main message can be applied to many more situations. What doesn’t kill you makes you a fighter. Related, “Fighter” by Christina Aguilera.
Good to be Alive (Hallelujah), Andy Grammer – First of all, Andy Grammer is fabulous (and might be my new celeb crush, #sorrynotsorry). Second, if I wasn’t already hooked after “Honey I’m Good” and “Keep Your Head Up,” this super catchy and cheerful song would’ve reeled me right in.
Happy, Pharrell Williams – Because everyone should be happy, all the time. It’s that simple.
