First and foremost, WELCOME TO MY NEW BLOG! It was a long process and I’m so happy to debut my new space on WordPress. I’m still fine-tuning, and I’ll probably always be fine-tuning something. So bear with me for the next few weeks for all the small adjustments. I hope y’all enjoy my new space as much as I do!
It’s June, and that means we are just about halfway through 2015 already! Can y’all believe it? The second half of my 2015 will look vastly different from the first six months. I graduated from grad school last month, meaning I am done with school for my life. Well, I say that now, but who knows, maybe I’ll go back later. Maybe. But that’s a discussion for another day.
Anyway, since 2015 part two is going to be full of new adventures, I’d like to share some of my longer-term goals for the second half of the year. I like thinking long-term because it gives me something to work toward for an extended amount of time. And since I’ll be entering the working world soon, I need these goals to keep me focused and busy outside of work life.
Here are my six goals for the next six months!
Get Back in Shape // The past year took a toll on my body. At times I did decently with going to the gym and being active, but at other times, not so much. I knew that once I had my time back, that I’d get back into a solid workout routine and get back in shape. I’m not terribly out of shape, but I definitely could be in better shape!
Eat Better // On a similar note, my eating habits fluctuated throughout grad school. I never ate horribly, but sometimes I’d think I was doing okay, and other times, again, I knew I could’ve been doing better. But now that I’m not constantly on the move and shuffling from project to project, I have time to plan out healthful meals and be more conscious of what I’m putting in my body.
I’ll share more about how I’m working toward those two goals in another post! What are your goals for the next 6 months? Click To Tweet
Adjust to Blogging on WordPress // I’ve used the WordPress platform before, of course, but for smaller projects and assignments. My rebrand and import process was full of new things that I’d never worked with, so it was quite a learning curve. I’ll share my favorite resources from the process in a future post. Fortunately I’m getting used to it pretty quickly. I hope I’ll be a WordPress pro in no time!
Find a New Creative Outlet // I’m always looking for new ways to channel my creativity. There are all kinds of one-day craft classes that I’d love to try myself…Michael’s sends emails about them all the time. Maybe one of those classes will lead to a new hobby! I do have an idea for my next “big” DIY project, but I don’t know if I can make “DIY projects” my new hobby. That would get expensive fast!
Get a Cat (and be able to afford it) // I’ve known for a while that, once I’ve moved somewhere for work and am settled into a good routine, that I want to get a cat. Pet deposits at apartments alone can be pricey, and I know food, litter boxes, litter, etc., aren’t cheap, either. I’ve already started saving, and I hope I’ll have a feline companion at my new place by the end of the calendar year.
Save Money // I won’t lie, saving money and budgeting is a struggle. But it doesn’t have to be! I have a coin jar and a small-bills jar that I try to put something in a few days a week. It doesn’t seem like much, but that money builds up and can go a long way! And now that I’m in the post-grad part of life, I’ve got to start saving money for some big purchases down the road (aside from a cat). Welcome to adult life?
While I have some other short-term goals I’d like to accomplish, these are my longer-term goals that I plan to work toward in the next six months. I’ll post updates on them periodically!
What short- and long-goals do you have?
