Merry, Merry Christmas, y’all! I hope everyone is having a glorious holiday season with their loved ones. I love being home to celebrate Christmas with my parents and cat.
But I could not leave Blacksburg without a picture at the giant town tree.
Every year, we have friends over for hors d’oeuvres before Christmas Eve service at church. We like to keep Southern traditions alive above the Mason-Dixon Line, so our menu often includes things like Texas caviar, ham biscuits, fruit and cheese, and a nice bowl of one of my favorites…
This year, I was put in charge of sweets. Mom and I bake every year, so I set out some of our truffles and cookies, and I made a nice batch of red velvet cake balls.
It’s always nice to spend the evening with our friends…

Later today, we’ll hit the road and drive down to Charlotte to see my mom’s family. It’s a long drive, but spending time with family is always wonderful.
And then when we get back, it’s New Year’s, the Hokies’ bowl game in El Paso, and my grad school test.
Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, safe travels, and a happy holiday season to everyone!
