I actually kind of hate winter, so picking something I like about it is a lot to ask. But I suppose if I had to pick something, I would say I love wearing scarves and boots, and consuming copious amounts of hot beverages. I have an unhealthy obsession for scarves, so any day I can wear one is a great day in my book. I wasn’t a huge fan of boots until the last few years, but now I love them and look forward to wearing them often.
Newest boot purchase: black Steve Madden combat boots. They’re great.
DAY 2: Favorite Warm and/or Cold Winter Beverage
Who drinks cold beverages in the winter?
Obviously I love coffee, so that’s a given. I’m a huge Starbucks junkie and I LOVE their holiday drinks. Gingerbread lattes and peppermint mochas are frequent purchases. Another Starbucks favorite of mine is white peppermint hot chocolate.
|it’s a PSL, but whatever, it’s still coffee.|
If we’re talking about alcoholic beverages… my parents went to Florida a couple weeks ago for a business trip for my dad. While they were there, they had a special coffee drink at a restaurant that had Bailey’s, Kaluha, Grand Marnier, and amaretto in it. Dad made some for me at home and it was delicious. I love plain Bailey’s and coffee, but the Grand Marnier added a subtle orange flavor that came out really nicely.
Here’s the recipe my dad used:
1 shot Amaretto
1 shot Bailey’s
1 shot Kaluha
2 shots Grand Marnier
Mix the above and pour desired amount into an 8-oz. cup of coffee. Makes enough for about 4-5 cups, depending on how much you mix with your coffee.
If you like cinnamon-flavored drinks, try hot cider with a splash of Fireball cinnamon whiskey. I’m generally not a huge cinnamon fan, but this was surprisingly good. One shot of Fireball was enough for me, but definitely mix to your own tastes.
Happy blogging and Happy Holidays!
