Hi there, and welcome to my corner of the Internet!
I’m Kate, a Southern lifestyle blogger and 110% Southern sweetheart. I moved to Chattanooga, Tenn., in July of 2015, right after grad school. By day, I work for a social media agency. By night, I’m a socialite in training, always looking for the best food, events, activities and people in this city I’ve come to love and call home.
My family’s roots are in North Carolina. We’ve moved up and down the east coast several times, among North Carolina, Georgia and Pennsylvania. Although we lived in the Philly area for a while, the South is our home and our foundation. I went to college at Virginia Tech (aka the best place in the world) and got my Master’s degree from Elon University in North Carolina, before moving to Chattanooga.
On the blog, you’ll find me writing about life in Chattanooga (and beyond) as I see it. I’m a total foodie and will never say no to a good Sunday brunch. I keep my social calendar busy, so you’ll often find me at local events, iPhone in hand, tweeting, Instagramming and Snapchatting the night away. But most of all, I just love telling a good story.
If you want to learn more about my blog itself and how it came to be, check out my advice to new bloggers, my birthday thank-you letter and why starting my blog was the best thing I ever did for myself.
I’m a born artist, a creative, a writer, and a creative writer! If it’s artsy, you’ll most likely find me doing it. Twitter chats are my favorite nighttime activity. Penguins make me smile. You’ll find me with a cup of coffee or tea in my hand more often than not. I believe that nothing beats a well-made mint julep. Macaroni & cheese is its own food group in my diet. And one day you’ll see my name on the New York Times best-seller list.
Lastly, I’m a proud animal mom to this sweet little fluffball, who appears in my posts from time to time. I rescued Maggie (short for Magnolia, of course) from a shelter shortly after I moved to Chattanooga. She’s now two years old and still has the energy of a kitten. I love her dearly, though, and can’t imagine coming home to an empty apartment without her begging for belly rubs.
